The City of Belle currently has an opening for a full-time City Clerk/Collector.

Primary Responsibility

The City Clerk will plan, organize and implement into action all activities associated with the Administration office, assuring that all front office operations are completed in a timely manner and all legal requirements are met according to Missouri state statues.

JOB FUNCTIONS

• Provide exceptional customer service to the citizens of Belle. 

• Attend city council meetings and take minutes. 

• Post meeting notes in accordance with Missouri law. 

• Record and maintain journals of all proceedings of city council. 

• Prepare and submit various required municipal reports. 

• Coordinate all municipal elections with county election authority. 

• Administer official oaths to elected and appointed officials of the city. 

• Serves as secretary to the Mayor and Board of Aldermen and Alderwomen. 

• Custodian of city seal, ordinances and resolutions. 

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office. 

• Collect and account for utility payments. 

• Make daily deposits. 

• Assist with water meter readings on as-needed basis. 

• Prepare and coordinate utility bills and disconnection of utilities. 

• Assist Municipal Court Clerk when needed and attend court as need. 

• Assist in other duties, as assigned. 

Qualifications

Applicants must have the following:

• A passion to build growth in a small town community.

• High priority for customer service.

• Friendly and enthusiastic personality.

• Previous city clerk experience preferred, but not required.

• Previous experience with water billing software preferred, but not required.

•  Knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Knowledge of Google suite.

• Must be organized.

• Must work well under pressure.

• Must be willing to cross-train with other positions.

• Must be able to attend trainings to update skills and obtain any possible certifications. 

• May be subject to work overtime or emergency call-in. 

•Must be bonded up to $8,000. 

Supervision

This position will report to the Mayor, Board of Aldermen.

Pay Range

Pay is negotiable based on experience and education.
