On April 5, 2022, Belle citizens will have the opportunity to vote yes on Proposition 1, transitioning from an elected Marshal to an appointed Chief of Police.
There is currently no qualified candidate who has presented him/herself on the ballot. To acquire a POST certification would take six months or more.

As the City of Belle strives to rebuild the Police Department from the ground up, the appointment of a Chief of Police is a key strategy for successful implementation. And we can’t move forward in building a better, safer community without the support of its citizens, you.
