An update from Mayor Josh Seaver:
In an open letter to the community on June 15th, I promised to set a path toward course correction.
With the employee turnover in the offices, and leadership changes on the board of aldermen things had been tossed into a general state of chaos.
This being the last full week of August I am pleased to say we are finally heading in the right direction.
The board of aldermen has a full table once again with the addition of Mr. Bethman.
The water billing process has been corrected so hopefully there won’t be any further confusion.
Show Me Courts is up and running.
The public works department now has three very capable, knowledgeable employees to maintain our infrastructure.
We FINALLY have an animal control agent in place. He is currently dealing with a health issue, but is looking forward to jumping in upon his recovery.
As promised, and in keeping with a promise I made way back in 2018 to clean up our community, the nuisance complaint/warning process has begun again. Although it took slightly longer to get started than anticipated, the first round of warnings were hand delivered by me yesterday. These warnings are being issued on a totally non discriminate basis, and follow city ordinance to the “T”.
If you have a nuisance you would like to report please stop by the administration building and fill out the complaint form.
In a nutshell, nobody likes living next to junk.. please clean it up.
The plan to rebuild Belle PD has begun as you may have read in the newspaper last week. Updates as they become available.
(Side note) – I witnessed two separate traffic stops conducted by the Sheriff’s department yesterday. While I don’t know the outcome of either, I would like to thank them once again for their continued, professionalism, commitment and hard work protecting our community and it’s citizens.
There are several other projects currently in the planning phase. More information will be rolled out via Facebook, our website (cityofbellemo.org) and the Maries County Advocate as they progress.
As we welcome the kids back to school please watch for children walking to and from.
(Side note) – Tellman Avenue next to the Catholic church around Second to the intersection of Jersey Avenue will be designated a ONE WAY STREET, Monday through Friday between the hours of 3pm and 5pm.
This decision was made for the safety of our school children being picked up in the afternoon.Signs are ordered. Please make yourself in the habit of following this traffic pattern.
As always, if you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the administration building at (573) 859-3513.
If I am unavailable please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
Have a great second half of the week…
Thanks,
Josh Seaver, Mayor
